THE TOPEKA TREASURE HUNTERS IS A METAL DETECTING CLUB FOUNDED OVER 40 YEARS AGO
WE MEET THE 3RD SUNDAY EVERY MONTH (2ND SUNDAY IN JUNE) AT NORTH TOPEKA BAPTIST CHURCH; 123 NW GORDON ST. TOPEKA, KANSAS (WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MAY, SEPTEMBER, AND DECEMBER)
WE ARE FAMILY ORIENTED CLUB THAT ENJOYS THE HOBBY OF METAL DETECTING.
MEETINGS CONSIST OF BUSINESS AND STORIES ALONG WITH IDEAS FROM MEMBERS. THE MEETINGS ALSO HAS A 50/50 RAFFLE (MEMBERS DONATE ITEMS AND TICKETS ARE DRAWN TO SEE WHO GETS THE ITEMS. TWICE A YEAR (JULY AND DECEMBER) A TICKET IS DRAWN AND THE WINNER GETS 1/2 THE MONEY EACH TIME. THE OTHER 1/2 IS GIVEN TO THE CLUB CHARITIES IN DECEMBER..
THERE IS ALSO A DOOR PRIZE RAFFLE AND IT HAS SEVERAL DRAWINGS. Money from this raffle is used to buy the coins for the next month's door prize raffle. (tickets are $1.00 each for either raffle)
THE CLUB SPONSERS A NATIONAL HUNT THE 3RD SUNDAY IN MAY OF EACH YEAR. THIS HUNT IS OPEN TO ALL WHO WANT TO COME. THERE IS VENDOR TABLES FOR ALL YOUR DETECTING NEEDS AND A GREAT TIME IS HAD BY ALL.

JUNE POOL MEETING AT NIDA’S WORK PLACE. PRESIDENT STEVEN HENDRICKS CALLED MEETING TO ORDER WITH 27 MEMBERS AND 3 GUEST (WHO JOINED THE CLUB) PRESENT. 2ND COVID NEWSLETTER CONTEST WITH 4 ENTRIES TODD WINNER WITH 20 CENT COIN JIM HINTON WON THE 50/50 POT ($98.00) EXECUTIVE BOARD IN THE FUTURE THE JUNE MEETING WILL BE ON THE 2ND SUNDAY. 2 MEMBERS DONATED THE MONEY FOR CHICKEN AND DRINKS AT THE CLUB HUNT. 3 OTHER MEMBERS DONATED $1200.00 FOR THE CLUB HUNT.
JULY NO MEETING 3RD NEWSLETTER CONTEST WITH STEVEN HENDRICKS THE WINNER. A FEW OF THE OFFICERS HAD A FACEBOOK VIDEO GET TOGETHER.
AUG MEETING AT NORTH TOPEKA BAPTIST CURCH (DONNA HILDEBRAND SET THIS UP FOR THE CLUB). 23 MEMBERS PRESENT (COVID RETRICTIONS WERE 25 INSIDE AND 45 OUTSIDE) CLUB NOT HAVE OPEN MEETINGS FOR THE PRESENT (CAN INVITE A PERSON). DISCUSSION ON THE SEPTEMBER CLUB MEMBERS ONLY HUNT. PRESIDENT STEVEN HENDRICKS GAVE THE RULES FOR HIS PRESIDENTAL SILVER CONTEST WITH THE WINNER RECEIVING A TROY OUNCE SILVER BULLION. EARLENE JIRIK TALKED ABOUT HER 90TH DRIVE BY BIRTHDAY PARTY.
SEPT CLUB MEMBERS ONLY HUNT AND PICNIC. GOOD TURNOUT CONSIDERING THE WEATHER. START OF HUNT DELAYED DUE TO WAITING FOR A BREAK IN THE RAIN (OVER 40 MEMBERS HUNTING) 486 DIMES AND 66 TOKENS. DAVE CRUGET BURIED HIS SPECIAL BOX WITH 30 DIMES IN IT. ALL MEMBERS WERE WEARING MASK EXCEPT WHEN HUNTING OR EATING AND USED PLASTIC GLOVES WHILE GETTING THIER FOOD.
OCT MEETING AT NORTH TOPEKA BAPTIST CHURCH. 20 MEMBERS AND 3 GUEST PRESENT. DISCUSSION ON HAVING JUST A NOVEMBER MEETING AND NO THANKSGIVING DINNER. IT WAS BROUGHT UP, VOTED ON AND PASSED TO HAVE A 5PM WINTER MEETING TIME (OCT THRU MARCH)
NOV MEETING CANCELLED. NEW COVID RETRICTIONS LIMITED TO NO MORE THAN 10 PEOPLE. RAN FIND OF THE YEAR REMOTELY WITH 16 ENTRIES
DEC FIND OF THE YEAR WINNERS ANNOUNCED ALONG WITH TREASURE HUNTER OF THE YEAR ANNOUNCED. LARRY CASAD WON THE 50/50 POT (EARLENE DID THE DRAWING AS NO GET TOGETHER).
